The majority of our barges were built between 1880 and 1930 – the proudest and most active part of Dutch barge history.

These vessels were constructed to play a major part in the transportation of commercial goods across Holland and designed for durability and flexibility.

Every barge is unique, built specifically for purpose. They are stronger than other European barges and built with rounded chines for maneuverability and speed, making them a great choice not just as homes but for sea travel too.

Every barge has a unique history – and understanding this is an essential part of our evaluation process. The barges were used for transportation of many types of goods – we select those that will have had minimal wear on the boat and ensure its longevity before you take it.

Their beauty and uniqueness are a major part of their charm. In the words of one of our clients “you’ll know your barge when you see her!”

Becoming familiar with the history of Dutch barges is part of the charm of finding your new home. Every vessel is unique and has its own story to tell.
